![]() B.C.'s Eugene Wong Keeps Adding To His Ample Resume After Winning The Prestigious USC Invitaional Team Canada member and University of Oregon sophomore, Eugene Wong, won the (NCAA Div. I) USC Invitational. Wong won by a one stroke margin at 10-under par after a closing round 69 (-2). The Canadian, who began the day in second place, switched spots with USC's T.J. Vogel, who was even-par for his round and ended up a stroke back at 9-under. Wong (203, 65-59-69) had three birdies and only one bogey on his final round at the 6,869-yard par 71 North Ranch Country Club, becoming the third Oregon golfer to win the tournament and first since Ryan Lavoie in 2000. Past champions at the USC Invitational include PGA veterans Corey Pavin, Paul Casey and Tiger Woods, among others. The victory for Wong was his first as a collegian - his previous best finish was second at the Pacific Invitational last fall. |
