Playoff Highlights MJT Mini Tour Presented By PGA of Saskatchewan At Elk Ridge

WASKESIU, Saskatchewan — Waskesiu, Saskatchewan, hosted Canada’s number-one played junior golf tour’s penultimate Mini Tour stop in the province, where young golfers aged seven to 12 competed for titles in four divisions in the MJT Mini Tour presented by PGA of Saskatchewan at Elk Ridge Resort.
Exciting highlights included a playoff in the MJT Boys 9-10 Division, when after 18 holes at Elk Ridge Resort, 10-year-old Austin Nesbitt, of Pilot Butte, SK, and nine-year-old Keaton Kreklewich, of Melville, SK, finished tied at the top with a score of 73. With both players winning previous events on the MJT Mini Tour, it was Nesbitt who emerged victorious this time around. “My drives set me up well and I made a few important putts,” commented Nesbitt. “I stayed focused and hydrated and I was proud of what I did out there.”
Taking home the title in the MJT Boys 11-12 Division was 12-year-old Carter Moen, of Swift Current. Moen recorded a score of 77 to win by just a single shot. “I felt like it was going to be a fun day,” commented Moen before beginning his round. “I kept a positive attitude and I’m happy to get the win.” Swift Current, SK, golfer Matty Schmiess, 11, shot 78 to finish runner-up.
In the MJT Girls 11-12 Division, 12-year-old Ada Dillon, of Onion Lake, SK, carded 88 to earn her first ever MJT Mini Tour victory. Dillon, who is playing in her first year on the MJT Mini Tour in Saskatchewan, has earned a top-five and a runner-up finish already this year and now enters the winner’s circle for the first time. “My driving helped me win today,” she said. “The course was challenging, and I feel very happy to win.” Regina, SK, golfer Yuna Lee, 11, scored 94 to finish second in the division.
Eight-year-old Kipton Fenrich, of Saskatoon, SK, shot 99 to beat Cohen Bridge, 7, also of Saskatoon, for another title in the MJT Boys 8U Division, making back-to-back MJT Saskatchewan Mini Tour wins.
The PGA of Saskatchewan, which is awarding lucky participants at each of the MJT Mini Tour events in the province with a golf makeover courtesy of one of their Zone Professionals, was a proud sponsor of the event. Full results can be viewed here.
