May 2021 Issue (Alberta Version)

In this month’s Alberta edition of the Inside Golf Digital Magazine, our cover story features Gord Montgomery’s story on how golf in Alberta is finally underway. Montgomery informs us that as of Tuesday, June 1, things are back to full speed on courses across Alberta. The government announced on May 26 that foursomes will once again be allowed much to everyone’s relief.

On the flip side of that coin is another Montgomery article where he examines how the government rules have caused revenue concerns for courses that otherwise have been packed and the back and forth has been a difficult issue for clubs between protocols, weather and the like.

Meanwhile, Gord has one singularly very upbeat story on how a gentleman came to realize the dream of playing every course in Alberta. What could have been construed as an off-handed comment, made by husband to wife, turned the lives of Bob and Lynda Villeneuve into a multi-year golf adventure. Travelling down the Cowboy Trail in rural Alberta, Bob noted the numerous golf courses scattered throughout the region. That set his mind to whirling, eventually offering up to his wife that, “I want to play every course in Alberta and I want to start in Drayton Valley.”

Enjoy your golf and stay safe.
