8AM Golf Launches Chirp, A Free-To-Play Golf Gaming App

Want to add the excitement of real-time gaming to your PGA TOUR viewing?

Now you can with Chirp, a free-to-play golf gaming app that allows users to compete against their friends by wagering on the outcome of PGA TOUR tournaments, rounds and shots. With Cisco as its launch partner, Chirp was released today by 8AM Golf and is available to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. This is a free-to-play, no-risk gaming platform.

To kick off every tournament, Chirp users are given $10,000 in Chirp credits, plus a $5,000 bonus per round. With Chirp, the action never stops — users compete for valuable prizes and can place wagers on key shots they’re watching on live televised coverage. Using an algorithm based on PGA TOUR data, historic trends and player momentum, Chirp generates real-time betting lines for real-time action, along with traditional full-tournament, single-round, match-up, and prop bets.

Chirp users automatically join the app’s “global league,” which means they compete with everyone else who’s Chirping at the moment, and they’re also given the option of launching their own smaller leagues with friends. For this week’s U.S. Open, Chirp will offer unique prizes and experiences to top finishers in the global league that range from a two-night, four-round experience at Cabot Cliffs for two people, a custom True Spec fitting and a full set of clubs, a trip to Mandalay Bay, hundreds of dollars’-worth of credit to GOLF.com’s Pro Shop, and more. By giving Chirp users the option of launching their own smaller leagues, Chirpers experience the thrill of competing for compelling global-league prizes with the excitement of competing directly with friends.

“Chirp is the future of golf gaming,” said Charlie Grace, President of Chirp. “For the first time ever, you and your friends can play alongside the pros in real time. Chirp brings the thrill of PGA tournament viewing to a new level, as you test your ability to predict outcomes on live shots. We are excited to bring this app to life and truly believe we have created golf’s new virtual clubhouse!”

In the month leading up to Chirp's public launch, beta testing revealed impressive engagement that suggests users are finding the product to be consistently compelling and deeply interactive.

  • The average user is making 8 bets per tournament
    • 41% of users bet on 3+ days per tournament
    • 8% of users bet on all 4 days per tournament
  • The top 10% of users are making 134 bets per tournament
  • Live bets are the most popular bet type
