There you can try virtually every make and model of equipment available in the world. Clubs, shafts, balls... you name it, it's here. The range, a name that does really do this practice facility justice, is set up in a circle with a diameter that must be more than 500 yards across. Basically you can start any point and travel around and can be assured that you will see everything. ![]() 7351 Balls On The Range; Take One Down, Bat It Around; 7350 Balls On The Range... Nigel Mangen had started at 6 AM and was on pace to break the record of hitting more than 7350 balls over the next 12 hours. To make things a little more difficult, he had to hit every ball more than 100 yards and within a 30° arc. There was even an official from the Guinness world book of records on hand to validate the results. He said that Nigel on a good pace to make it and I always trust the perspective of a professional. ![]() If You Have Never Thought About The Pounding That Your Hands Take From Hitting Balls, This Drop Test Will Get You Thinking I think of grips as something the average golfer doesn't pay that much attention to but since they keep you in contact with the club, they probably are very important. Lamkin was showing off a new material, a synthetic rubber called "3Gen". Aside from being incredibly soft, its claim to fame is an incredible ability to absorb shock. They had a really cool drop test where weights are dropped onto both regular rubber grip material and their new 3Gen. Basically, the weight on the regular rubber literally bounces like a rubber ball while the weight dropping onto the new synthetic rubber just sits there. For people who play a lot of golf or hit a lot of ball off of mats and a retail of between five and six dollars USD per grip, this would be a good idea to do this every season or two. |
